Authorities announced on Thursday that all five men who were on board the missing Titan submersible have been declared dead. It was determined that the submersible imploded near the shipwreck location after losing communication with its mothership.
Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron, who received this information within 24 hours of the submersible’s disappearance, confirmed that it had imploded and mentioned feeling like the past week had been a nightmarish charade. The Wall Street Journal reported that the implosion of the Titan sub was detected by secret US Navy underwater microphones a few days ago.
The individuals on board the submersible were OceanGate Expeditions founder and CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, and his 19-year-old son Suleman.
The Navy utilized a classified acoustic detection system to search for any signs of the Ocean Gate Expeditions submersible shortly after it was reported missing on Sunday.
